Former speedster Shoaib Akhtar didn’t like head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq justifying his and team’s performance in England.
Responding to Misbah’s comments regarding the national T20I team being already on a losing streak when he took charge, Akhtar said he should have taken the responsibility of the team’s performance despite giving excuses.
“Playing here and there will not help Misbah in gaining the support of fans. If I had been in his place, I would have said that it is my fault, I will set it right,” said Akhtar on a local sports channel.
“Saying that the team was already going down, what sort of talk was that? If he makes a strong statement, I will be the first person to support him,” he added.
Remember, Misbah justified his performance so far as a head coach when he was asked about team’s debacle in T20Is during a presser on Monday. “When I took over the coaching, the performance of our T20 team was going down. We lost to South Africa, England. The main aspect of declining was the performances of our main players,” he was quoted saying.
It must be noted here that Pakistan is currently ranked number 4 in ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Greenshirts only won a series against Bangladesh since Misbah took charge as head coach-cum-chief selector. Whereas, lost against Sri Lanka, Australia, and leveled three matches T20I series against England recently.
